Managing Substance Abuse and other Mental Illnesses among the Nigerian Youth Seminar

That there is an ongoing crisis on Drug abuse among the Nigerian Youth, as recently exposed by BBC and various other media is no longer news. We felt that more can be done and it was necessary to drive more conversation towards the issue and seek solutions as well. Why is the issue so prevalent, what are the underlying factors? What can be done now and, in the future, to help people already in and prevent more from joining them.

On Wednesday, June 20th, 2018, Synlab Nigeria and Anadach Consulting Group hosted a Seminar on Managing Substance Abuse and other Mental Illnesses among the Nigerian Youth.
Though attendance was poor, we had a very lively, informative and interactive discussion none the less. The Seminar covered the Importance of addressing issues in Youth mental health to
achieving Universal Health care and the Substance abuse trends among the Nigerian Youth. Followed by a review of Clinical management of Drug misuse and dependence. A panel
consisting of Psychiatrists, and Pharmacists then discussed the Rising recognition of youth mental health issues and proffered possible solutions.
