March 18, 2018: CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR THE 5th EDITION OF THE NIGERIAN HEALTHCARE EXCELLENCE AWARD (NHEA)

 

NHEA an initiative of Global Health Project and Resources (GHPR) in collaboration with Anadach Group USA is the Oscar of Nigerian healthcare.  NHEA 2018 has 4 (Four) Award Categories with 23 (Twenty-Three) sub-categories and nominations for the different categories are expected from over 5,000 stakeholders and members of the public. Winners of the various categories will be honoured on Friday, June 22, 2018 at Eko Hotel & Suites, Lagos. The 2014 Ebola virus disease (EVD) outbreak remains unprecedented both in the number of cases,deaths and geographic scope. The first case of EVD was confirmed in Lagos Nigeria on 23 July 2014 and spread to involve 19 laboratory-confirmed EVD cases. The research article "An account of the Ebola virus disease outbreak in Nigeria: implications and lessons learnt" by joint work of Anadach Group describes the events of the Nigeria Ebola crisis in 2014.

Dr. Ameyo Stella Adadevoh was the doctor who correctly diagnosed and contained the first case of Ebola in Nigeria in 2014. Her heroic efforts helped to prevent a major outbreak in the most populous African country and saved countless lives. Unfortunately, she contracted Ebola and passed away. Our work on Ebola with Instrat and other partners, was presented at the Brookings Institution's Mobile Health Fourm on March 12. The forum examined mHealth applications in Africa, with a particular emphasis on mHealth innovations in Nigeria, Liberia and Sierra Leone paying specific attention to child and maternal health which is Anadach's joint work with Vecna and Instrat on piloting ebola m-training in Nigeria.

InStrat (a key partner of Anadach) was invited by the Ondo State Government to conduct the electronic disease surveillance of the mysterious illness which has killed 13 people so far in Irele LGA. The team contributed to the identification of Acute Methanol Poisoning as likely cause within days. Anadach and one of its partners - Instrat Global Health Solutions, is volunteering with other institutions including Vecnacares Charitable Trust and Staff of University of Leeds to pilot e-training programs on Ebola awareness for primary health care facilities in a Nigerian State. We believe that strengthening of the health systems at all levels, and innovative approaches to increasing public awareness is important to ensure that the Ebola Outbreak in West Africa is stopped. It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Dr. David Hart FACC, MBA . Dr. Hart, Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology and Electrophysiology, was one of Anadach's first consultants. He died at home on Sunday, the result of an extended illness. His entrepreneurial spirit, strong interest in improving cardiovascular services in Africa and infectious personality was appreciated by Anadach colleagues, and he will be deeply missed. Dr. Hart is survived by his wife Karen, their three children, and extended family in the US and Nigeria.

Anadach was recognized as providing commercial due diligence to an Aureos Investment on Therapia Health. The Anadach Consulting Group provided due diligence advice on the operations to the Aureos team. Partner, Dr Alade commented: "It was an interesting assignment as it was the first Aureos investment in the health sector in Nigeria, and one of the first PE deals in the sector. From our perspective, there were no major issues with the due diligence which involved working across the various operational sites in several cities across the country."
