In furtherance of long-standing mandates and decisions of the AU Assembly and the United Nations General Assembly, the NEPAD Agency and the African Union Commission (AUC) has effected a partnership with a private sector firm, DFS Africa to organize the Africa Pharma Conference 2018. The Conference is organized under the leadership of the AUC and NEPAD, incorporating all relevant continental institutions, development partners, UN systems, Member States and the private sector.

The Africa Pharma Conference is the largest congregation of professionals and experts across the Pharmaceutical and Access to Medicines value chain across Africa. The Conference seeks amongst other things to promote the implementation of the Accelerated Industrial Development of Africa (AIDA), the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Plan for Africa (PMPA) and the UN General Assembly's Third Industrial Development Decade for Africa (IDDA3).
 

The conference aims to facilitate concrete actions that will improve access to affordable essential medicines and catalyse local production in Africa by harnessing high-level political commitment, workable solutions and private sector financing contributing significantly to a healthy African society. This conference will also afford African Union affiliates, both regional and international across Pharmaceutical manufacturing, Healthcare and Devices manufacturing to introduce the implementation strategy of PMPA.

 

The Africa Pharma Conference creates an avenue for public authorities, policymakers, project sponsors, Fund managers, HNIs and investors in Pharma and healthcare both Private and institutional to come together to discuss best practices and the most efficient ways to scale Pharma production, structure healthcare projects and funnel private finance into the healthcare sector across Africa.
